Janelle Matias (she/her/they/them) is a junior from Harlem, NYC majoring in Education with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). On campus, she currently serves as a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow and a Writing Fellow at the Barnard Writing Center. Her research interests and former experiences as a youth activist and organizer reflect her ongoing commitment to an abolitionist-feminist praxis for ending the prison-industrial complex.
